When I woke up in the morning, Um Laith told me that I would stay in the house in the village that night, with Rana and Bthayna. Soon Abu Laith went to work for the day (I got the where (some village) but couldn't ask what successfully.) We spent the first half of the day pretty close to the camp, letting the sheep eat and playing with the kids. Um Laith asked me if I was coming back (I think). I told her I wanted to.
The trek to the village was long and hot. When we don't have the car, the kids ride the donkey. We were crossing open desert for over an hour, and I got hot and tired, and had nowhere to pee. It was pretty, though. I almost stopped caring about the geology, I was so hot and tired. As for the village, you see the trees before the buildings. When we got to the village, kids came out to meet us, and we put the herd in a pen before going to the house. I had seen the yard the night before, but today they brought me into the house, with Rawan playing gracious hostess (even though it wasn't the house she lived in). We hung out fot a bit in the living room, which is basically set up like a campfire, only indoors. Eventually the kids turned on the TV and channel surfed. I asked them about Star Academy, and they turned it on. Rawan likes Ahmad and Marwa. We also watched a Disney Tarzan cartoon in Arabic. It was a lazy afternoon, and I was so tired I actually took a nap as people came and went and surfed and dozed around me.
Later on, family friends came to visit, with a kid barely walking but not yet talking named Qtaiba; all the kids adored him. Hudda called and asked to talk to me, which made me happy. It was just like an evening in the desert--only not in the desert. I slept in the house that night. They put me in the outer, empty room. There's a cool bedroom, but the parents slept with the kids in the living room.
