sleeping, in cairo?

They say Cairo never sleeps. We haven't been here long enough to verify that, yet, but we certainly didn't sleep much our first night. We were the exuberant American tourists every hotel-neighbor hates, I'm sure, but for once even we didn't care. We're treating this like the Spring Break we so desperately need. Sure, our days are still spent lecturing and sightseeing, critiquing and analyzing. But it was nice to spend that first night celebrating a 21st birthday on our hotel balcony overlooking the Nile, laughing and dancing together. And, after all, it is Cairo.
