I'm teaching everyone Settlers of Catan...and learning it in Arabic.

Hell yeah.

When I consulted my Arabic teacher about the proper translations, she suggested that I make it my final project, which is super-sweet since I was going to do it anyway. After some internal debate I opted to translate the game as genuinely pioneering rather than colonialist; I figured it made more sense to take the game on its own terms rather than presume an unexpressed exploitation of a silenced native population.

There's not much more to say, because I don't blog about people on principle. Suffice it to say, we're having good times here.
