birthday

it's been a good birthday so far. needless to say, i celebrated with my family before i left. it just doesn't really feel like my birthday today, so there's been nothing to miss, really. but intellectually i am aware of the fact, and it's been a pleasant day. probably half the people on my program wished me a happy birthday the first time they ran into me this morning. haha...that's more happy birthdays than i used to get from my friends at home. marley wrote me a super-fabulous letter with lots of exciting things enclosed, so that was fun. i'm saving the main card and presents my mom sent with me until 21:25 pm, because that's when i technically turn 21 (accounting for the time difference, obviously). maybe i'm just using that excuse to account for the fact that it doesn't feel like my birthday. but then again, what's a birthday supposed to feel like? it's been a good day, and people have been really nice about it (wanting to celebrate, checking in to see if i'm homesick, etc)...what more could you want from a birthday? it is just a day, after all.
